Setting the Electronic Shutter

You can change the shutter speed (time for each shooting frame) using the electronic shutter function. Electronic shutter can be adjusted manually or automatically.

Automatic Shutter Mode (Automatic Shutter Adjustment)

Set the [FULL AUTO] switch to “OFF”.
Press the [SHUTTER] button to set to the Automatic Shutter mode.

The Auto icon appears on the screen.

Automatic Shutter mode adjusts the shutter speed automatically according to the brightness of the object.

Set the controllable range for the Automatic Shutter in [Camera Function] arrowR [EEI Limit].
Memo

Setting the [FULL AUTO] switch to “ON” to enter the Full Auto mode also activates the Automatic Shutter mode. In this case, the Iris, Gain and White Balance also enter into Auto mode forcibly.

In the Automatic Shutter mode, switching of shutter speed with the cross-shaped button ( U_botton D_botton ) at the side of the camera recorder and switching of shutter mode with the Set button ( REC button ) are disabled.

While in the Automatic Shutter mode, and [AE/FAW Lock] is set to “AE” or “AE/FAW”, a FAW_LOCK icon appears on the left side of the shutter speed during lock operation.

Manual Shutter Mode (Manual Shutter Switching)

Set the [FULL AUTO] switch to “OFF”.
Press the [SHUTTER] button to set to the Manual Shutter mode.

The Auto icon on the screen disappears.

Use the Set button ( REC button ) to switch between the shutter modes and the cross-shaped button ( U_botton D_botton ) to switch between the speeds.

Press the Set button ( REC button ) to turn ON/OFF the shutter.

Memo

When the shutter is ON, configure the [Camera Function] arrowR [Shutter] item to “Step” or “Variable”. “Step” is the factory default.

Switching Shutter Speed

When the shutter is ON, use the cross-shaped button ( U_botton D_botton ) to configure the shutter speed. The settable shutter speed range differs according to the video format setting.

Memo

To display Shutter in angle (DEG), set [ SlotA_B Frame Rate] to “25p” or “24p” and set [LCD/VF] arrowR [Display Type] arrowR [Shutter] to “DEG”.

After the shutter speed indication turns white, the setting value can be changed using the cross-shaped button ( U_botton D_botton ).

The operations of the cross-shaped button ( U_botton D_botton ) and Set button ( REC button ) are disabled in the following cases.

During clip preview

During display of the formatting confirmation screen

When selecting a face using face detection

When selecting a photometry area with [Spot Meter] set to “Manual”

During expanded focus
