RECORD SETTING

* ( ) indicates the position of the shooting dial

To adjust focus easily, the contour of focused parts are highlighted in color.

OFF

Deactivates the Focus Assist function.

ON

Activates the Focus Assist function.

Sets the color of contour line which is displayed in the “Focus Assist” function.

RED

Sets the color of contour line to red.

GREEN

Sets the color of contour line to green.

BLUE

Sets the color of contour line to blue.

Adjusts the color according to the light source.

Enables close-up shots when using the telephoto (T) end of the zoom.

Automatically adjusts focus and brightness based on the subjects’ faces or selected area.

For setting the flash.

Setting

Details

OFF

Flash does not fire.

AUTO

Flash fires automatically when the surrounding is dark.

AUTO RED-EYE

Fires a pre-flash to reduce red-eye effects.

ON

Fires flash at all times.

SLOW SYNCHRO

Fires flash at all times, and slows down the shutter speed to capture both the subject and background brightly.

Memo

When the shooting dial is set to A or M, and when the exposure is set to a low value, an adequate brightness may not be achieved even if the flash is fired.

Do not point the AF assist beam of the flash at the eyes within a close range (several cm).

Do not look into the flash light directly.

Incorrect usage of the flash may cause vision problems.

Keep a distance of at least 1 m when shooting young children.

Using the flash at drivers may cause temporary blindness and result in accidents.

Caution

Do not fire the AF assist beam of the flash at the subjects within a close range (several cm).

Do not touch it directly with your hand.

If foreign particles, such as dust, are attached, do not use it.

Also, do not cover it with tape, etc.

Incorrect usage may result in burns.

Heat from the flash may result in emission of smoke.

Do not touch the flash immediately after it is used.

Use this when taking a group photo.

2SEC

Shutter is released after 2 seconds. This function prevents camera shake caused by pressing the shutter button.

10SEC

Shutter is released after 10 seconds. This function prevents camera shake caused by pressing the shutter button.

FACE DETECTION

Shutter is released when the subject enters into the image.

Memo

The Self-Timer lamp blinks while the Self-Timer function is operating.

Sets the ISO level according to the brightness of the subject.

Memo

“GAIN UP” can be set by using the USER dial.

Camera shake during still image recording can be effectively reduced.

Automatically captures a still image upon detection of a smile.

ON

Automatically captures a still image upon detection of a smile.

Memo

The camera is able to detect up to 16 faces. Smile levels will be displayed for up to 3 of the largest faces displayed on the screen.

This function may not work properly depending on the shooting conditions (distance, angle, brightness, etc.) and the subject (direction of face, smile level, etc.). It is also difficult to detect a smile in backlight.

After a smile is detected and captured, it takes time before the next recording may be performed.

“SMILE SHOT” does not work in the following cases:
- when menu is being displayed
- when remaining recording time is being displayed
- when any functions in “SPECIAL RECORDING” is set

Displays the smile level of people in percentage.

Displays only the frames when faces are detected.

ON

Displays the frames and smile levels (%) when faces are detected.

Memo

The camera is able to detect up to 16 faces. Smile levels will be displayed for up to 3 of the largest faces displayed on the screen.

Some faces may not be detected depending on the shooting environment.

Sets the image size (number of pixels) for still images.

Details

1920X1080(2M)

Takes still images with aspect ratio 16:9.

The sides of still images recorded in 16:9 aspect ratio may be cut off when printed.

4000X3000(12M)

2816X2112(5.9M)

2048X1536(3.1M)

640X480(0.3M)

Takes still images with aspect ratio 4:3.

Displays grid lines to identify tilt and composition of the subject.

Settings for shutter speed, aperture, white balance and gain can be saved. By moving the shooting dial to “U” position, you can start shooting in the same settings as these being saved.
